Dynamic mechanical characteristics of aged silicone rubber blend

Abstract The effect of aging on the mechanical properties silicone rubber (SR) was investigated by means ultrasonic, dynamic analysis, and FTIR techniques. Both longitudinal shear (Ultrasonic wave velocities) were measured at room temperature frequencies 2 MHz. Density, molar volume, ultrasonic velocities, tensile strength, properties, FT–IR showed improvement network with time from 0 to 70 days, while loosening structure observed 14 days 50 aging. These behaviours explained in terms change cross-link density average stretching force constant bonds Thermogravimetric analysis differential scanning calorimetric techniques quite low thermal stability performance for aged SR than virgin which confirmed cracks voids appeared under electron microscope.
